What corrugated board grades can be converted and what other materials can be converted?
This question has 2 answers. 1. All grades in from AB to DWB4 can be run on all machines. 2. Particularly on the Flat Bed Roller Die Cutter the possible constraints are linked to the dies and tooling more than the machine capabilities. With heavy duty Board the die in most cases works best when fitted with scolloped/Rotary Die type blades.

WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON BOARDS USED FOR MAKING BOXES?
B FLUTE BOARD (roughly 3 mm), C FLUTE BOARD (3,6 to 4,2mm) AND DWB (DOUBLE WALL BOARD-6mm) WHICH IS A COMBINATION OF B AND C FLUTE TOGETHER.
How do you tell the difference between different card boards?
Cardboard is "graded as follows": In a single wall board, you will hear 2 letters mentioned ie: a/c board... The first letter (a) is the board class. the higher the letter b,c,d the higher the grams per square meter or GSM of the paper. The second letter the (c) is the flute size so a class / c flute =a/c board or AC Board Double wall Board (DWB) works a little differently. DWB is refered to as DWB0 DWB1, DWB2,3,4 etc. The main varian is the 3 paper liners between the flute however although limited, the flutes do have about 3 or 4 various GSM's and they can be 100gsm (new in RSA), 125gsm, 140gsm, 160gsm, 175,gsm
WHAT IS THE METHOD FOR CHECKING WHAT A SAMPLE BOX IS MADE OUT OF.
1. Get a perfectly square piece of metal sheet 100mm x 100mm. 2. Place the plate on the cardboard slightly in from the edge and cut accurately all along the edge until you have a piece of the board 100x100mm 3. Place it on a scale that can weigh at least to 2 decimal (0,XXg) 4. Measure the thickness of the board with a vernier to ascertain the thickness. 5. By compairing the material to the list your supplier gives you to purchase from you will get a good idea as to which board could be close. PLEASE BE ADVISED THERE ARE MORE SCIENTIFIC METHODS BUT FOR BEGINNERS THIS IS THE BEST METHOD TO START. THINGS LIKE WHETHER THE PAPER IS RECYCLED OR VIRGIN ETC. ARE ALL THINGS YOUR BOARD SUPPLIER SHOULD GLADLY ASSIST YOU WITH. OTHERWISE SEND QUESTIONS TO email@example.com and I will gladly advise you.
